LLM Optimization (LLMO)

Definition

LLM optimization (LLMO) is the practice of optimizing content so large language models represent and cite it accurately in their outputs. It is another near-synonym for AEO and GEO, framing the work around large language models specifically rather than the answer interface or the generative step.

Why it matters for AEO

LLMO is part of an unsettled vocabulary that also includes AEO, GEO, and AIO. All describe being visible in AI answers, and the practical approach is the same. Optimizing for model behavior — clarity, specificity, and trust — satisfies every framing at once, so the label matters less than the underlying work.
